Because every childhood needs a fort made out of blankets on a rainy day to play in.

Over the River and Through the Woods…
to GiGi and Granddaddy’s house we go. Ryan took a week off of work, and we spent a few of those days in Tryon visiting. Such a fun place to visit, and so much to do! They have a park right up the road from them, so after a LONG (okay, 5 hours, but still..) car ride that was one of the first places we went.
One of Addie’s FAVORITE things to do when she visits the Grandparents is to feed the fish. And throw rocks at them. But mostly feed them. Ha.
Throwing the food into the fishies.
Showing DaDa the fishies.
When my parents moved from our house in KY, they had to leave behind the beloved Armadillos. They actually started out as a joke, but quickly became a staple at our house, and everyone knew to turn into the gates with the armadillos on them. When Elissa drove by not long ago, the current owners had torn the gates out. She was devastated. And then proceeded to track down the armadillos and rescue them, then reunite them with their proper owners. They now sit in one of GiGi’s gardens, and Addie had a great time “riding” the armadillos.
The day after we got there, Liz and Penny came to join in our fun for a couple of days!
(GiGi had a new DR set for the girls. Addie was very attached to the “necklace” in it)
Addie hugging St Francis. Which was fine. But then she hugged him too hard. He fell over, and his head fell off.
This was right after she beheaded him. She looks a bit disturbed…
Looking at the fish again
Both girls LOVED playing on the steps.
While GiGi taught a few lessons and Granddaddy caught up on some work, Liz, Ryan, and I headed back to the park with the girls. They BOTH had a great time!
Cute Husband.
Girls on the Go
Sliding with DaDa
Cute little Monkey on the Monkey Bars
Sliding
Drive faster Penny!
Love sunny afternoons at the park!!
Another favorite thing about visiting GiGi is bathtime. These girls LOVE a good bath, and GiGi loves to entertain them!
High Five Penny!
Catching the water
Addie also had LOTS of fun playing with Granddaddy. They read books, watched cartoons, took walks, and threw rocks at the fish together.
Ryan left with Daddy for a day (and night) to go work on the cabin, so we all had a Girl’s Afternoon Out. GiGi found this great place for the girls. It’s all inflatables, but with a toddler section. We were almost the only ones there, so we played on everything, but the toddler section was by far the favorite.
Toddler Section Fun!
Then off to the BIG slides.
Then we found the Roller Wheelz. Liz and I flashed back to 1987.
And then we saw a slight preview of what these girls will look like in 14 years. Driving. YIKES!
We ended our Girls Day Out with a yummy Mexican dinner, where Addie introduced Penny to the goodness of all things salsa.
It was a fun day, and the girls wore themselves out! We were leaving the next afternoon, so we packed in lots of playtime that morning.
We read books, played outside, fed the fish, and of course, rode on the armadillos.
GiGi brought up an old piano that she had from HER childhood from the basement, and they had a great timebanging playing on it.
Then, we went for one last fast trip to the park to run out some energy before the car ride home. Addie went down a slide first thing that had a puddle of water on it. Perfect. Ha.
Cute Penny
Playing on the slides
Addie and Penny ran, played on the swings, the slides, and had a great time until they were too tired to stand up. It was the perfect way to end our trip!
